East cabin · Five bedrooms · Sleeps ten
Aubade takes the morning.
First light lands here before it reaches the valley.
The east wall is glass end to end. Marys Rock and Thornton Gap sit five miles that way, and from late spring the sun comes up almost exactly through the gap — so the light arrives in the kitchen while the town below is still in shadow.
The sauna and hot tub are on the sunrise deck, which is the point of them. Hot at six, cold air, coffee, and the whole Blue Ridge turning over while nobody else is up. Breakfast happens at a twelve-foot oak table indoors, or at the outdoor table for ten when it's warm enough.
Five bedrooms, each individually keyed and each painted for its own name — Hawksbill, The Orchard, Meadow, Kiln and Lantern. The murals were painted by hand, on site, and they are the reason people photograph the rooms.
Downstairs, the Long Room: a full-size pool table, arcade cabinets, a hundred-inch screen, karaoke and a poker table that stays set up. It's the brighter of the two games rooms, with windows on the morning side.
