Questions

The things people ask before they book.

Staying here

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from four in the afternoon and check-out is by ten in the morning. Early check-in and late check-out are available on request, subject to the stay either side.

Are pets allowed?

No. We know that is a hard line for some people; it is what keeps the murals, the bedding and the guests with allergies safe.

Is smoking allowed?

Not inside either cabin. Outside, away from the buildings, is fine.

Is there wifi?

Yes, fibre in both cabins, fast enough for a company of twenty on video calls at once. Speeds are on the offsites page.

How many people can stay?

Ten in each cabin, twenty across both. The number is the number of real beds in real bedrooms; we don't count sofas.

Can we bring extra people during the day?

Guests of yours who are not staying overnight are welcome to join you during your stay. Tell us in advance so we know who is on the property. Hespera Reach is a place to stay, not an event venue, and we don't host ticketed or publicly advertised gatherings.

Is the property child-friendly?

Yes. There is a play set and a bocce court on the lawn between the cabins, and the games rooms are made for rainy afternoons. The hot tubs, saunas and fire pits are adult things and need adult supervision; the decks are not fenced.

Is Hespera Reach accessible?

The ground floors of both cabins are on one level from the parking. Some bedrooms are upstairs. Tell us what you need and we'll be honest about whether it works.

Booking

How do I book?

Direct, here, for the best available rate and no platform fee. Single-cabin stays confirm instantly. Whole-property bookings, offsites and retreats start with a short conversation, usually by email, and we reply within a day.

Why book direct rather than through a platform?

It is the lowest price you will find for these cabins, there is no service fee on top, you get one free date change, and you are talking to the owners from the first message. The whole property is only bookable here.

What is the cancellation policy?

It is shown in full before you pay and repeated in your confirmation. Direct bookings include one free date change to any available dates within twelve months.

Do you take a deposit?

Yes, at booking, with the balance due before arrival. Company bookings can be invoiced with net-30 terms.

Can you invoice a company?

Yes. We provide an itemised invoice, a W-9 and a certificate of insurance on request. Details are on the offsites page.

When do you open?

The cabins open in October 2026. The calendar is taking reservations now for dates from then, and the earliest dates are the ones most likely to go.

The place

Where exactly is Hespera Reach?

On Valley Burg Road above Luray, Virginia, in Page County. Fifteen minutes from the Thornton Gap entrance to Shenandoah National Park, about two hours from Washington DC, and roughly ninety minutes from Dulles. The precise directions come with your booking.

Are the two cabins really private from each other?

They are about ninety feet apart across the lawn, angled so their decks face opposite ways — Aubade east, Nocturne west. You can see the other cabin; you can't see into it.

Is there anyone else on the twenty-five acres?

Not when you take both cabins. When you take one, the other may be booked by another group. There are no neighbours, no other buildings and no through road.

Is there phone signal?

Patchy on the hill, as it is across most of the valley. Wifi calling works everywhere in both cabins, and the fibre connection is the thing to rely on.

What is the weather like?

Four real seasons. Autumn is the famous one; winter is the quiet one and the one the saunas were built for. Summer days on the ridge run ten degrees cooler than the valley.
